The objective of the project is the design and development of an ontology schema to support a legal document and case management platform. The ontology schema must be suitable to serve as the schema for the GraphDB ontology base, which constitutes a subsystem of the legal document and case management platform. In GraphDB, data extracted from documents will be imported and stored. A set of rules will be created for the development of the ontology schema using RDF and OWL and their variants, depending on relationships, axioms, and inferences, to serve the needs of the legal document and case management platform. The design will support, at a minimum, natural language query templates as defined in the initial project phase. The design will preserve data historicity, considering possible changes (e.g., name changes, mergers/splits/deactivation of natural or legal entities, etc.). Appropriate mechanisms will be provided for mapping entities from external systems with which information exchange will take place (e.g., governmental bodies included in a subsystem of the legal document and case management platform). Reasoning techniques will be applied to ensure the reliability of the ontology schema. The methodology and tools for reasoning must be delivered along with the ontology schema.
